  • Fish, Chips and Footloose! How is your blood pressure?

It's Friday, We are usually running down towards the weekend. Not so this week. Our Rotary Friday started early at Keelham Farm Shop.

The polytunnel we should have been using had blown down in the wind, but this did not deter the enthusiastic and helpful staff setting up for our Stroke Awareness blood pressure testing. They simply squeezed us and the flower department into another smaller, very cosy space.

Over the course of the day , Bradford West Rotarians in their bright yellow tabards braved the cold Queensbury climate and offered our services to shoppers whilst a team of 8 professional nurses and doctors tested their blood pressure and offered information on stroke awareness.

What a worthwhile day! We tested 71 people and found only 42 (59%) to have a normal BP. The others had hypertension, 17 (24%) mild, 8 (11%) moderate and 4(6%) severe and appropriate action was taken in all cases.

So if you missed out this year, look out for us in 2017!

Just time for a warm up and quick change before setting off for a great three course fish and chip meal at Murgatroyds followed by a really pulsating, lively performance of Footloose - the Musical at Guiseley Theatre.

    Another great Rotary day!
