  • The adventures of Thelma and AnnE

In common with every member of Bradford West, there is a lot going on in my life alongside Rotary and it is great when the two come together!

So my Manorlands fundraising was supported by members of Bradford West by guessing the name of "Thelma" bear and by attending our Spring Fayre on Saturday which was hugely successful.

That night, Chris and I spent an enjoyable evening with RC Haworth and Worth Valley in Laycock Village Hall where we were very well fed with meat and potato pie and pudding and listened to Yorkshire's own Ian Dewhirst who was as entertaining as ever, proceeds going to Foundation for Polio Plus.

Our club visit to the Carr Gate Police Complex was popular and enjoyed by all, shown around and enthused by Barry who told us all about the police activities there. We had to park and walk quite a way because of the impressive security and so were more than surprised to witness Ann and Ken Thompson talk their way through the barriers to park in the inner sanctum!. Memo to self - "Must find out how they do it!"

We thought we had missed seeing the helicopter as it was called out (on constant 24 hour stand-by) as we approached. So we visited the magnificent horses and were delighted to see the Copter returning in time for us to get a close up view inside and out. What a fantastic machine and equipment, just like on the telly!

See our Facebook page for some photos of Thelma and of Carr Gate Police Headquarters.
